Thank you for taking the time to visit our site and learn more about our Rental Assistance Program (R.A.P.). Before you continue to the application, here is some additional information about how the assistance works:

  • Applying does not mean you’ve been accepted. All applications will be reviewed by a case manager, and additional information and documents may be requested.

  • We are only able to help pay 33.3% of your monthly rent. The program works as a reimbursement for the rent you have already paid.

  • Funds through our current grant can only be distributed to residents of New Hanover County.

  • Assistance is limited to a 6-month period.

  • Successful applicants will be either current in their rent or no more than one month behind.

  • The grant that funds this assistance is a Workforce Grant, which means successful candidates must be currently employed with a verifiable annual income that falls in between 60% to 120%  of the average income for New Hanover County.

As part of the acceptance process, applicants agree to actively participate in financial planning discussions with an R.A.P. case manager on a monthly basis.
